Oregon is unique in that it’s not allowed to have simple dive bars. Establishments that serve alcohol are required by the OLCC to also serve food. Portlanders have taken that as a challenge to offer up gourmet, or at the very least, non-terrible food options. Because of this, we have quite a few wonderful neighborhood pubs, microbreweries, and fancy cocktail bars — not to mention the gourmet restaurants and food carts.

Coffee

Speedboat

Just around the corner is a great little coffee shop. Pick up a drink or a bag of beans.

Stumptown (Belmont)

Stumptown Coffee is one of the classic old-school coffee roasters and coffee shops here in Portland. They export their beans to fancy coffeehouses across the country. This one is relatively easy to get to by transit — just a quick trip on the #14 bus to 34th, then a few blocks north to Belmont.

Stumptown (Division)

This Stumptown is technically closer, but a little more tricky to get to.
